Entry#3: Mint

Image
As I grab the quarter sized package from my pocket, it crumped up in my fingers. Inside this small seal was a enormous burst in flavor. With its ridged edges but smooth surface rest in the palms of my hand. While looking at the white refresher for your mouth, its light in weight but also solid in my hands. When popping it into your mouth the flavor is clean and embracing reminding me of a cool frosty mourning. Bringing me back to the days where my mom drops me off at school in the cold St. Louis weather. For a while the menthol-like candy will be on the top of your tongue.  For a brief moment, the symmetrical shape turns into asymmetrical. When i bite down i hear a loud crack that echoes in my mouth. Instantly the shards shatter in my mouth dissolving in seconds. The air feels cooler and my sinuses feels refreshed.

Entry #6: Engineering

These past 8 weeks at Glendale Community College were really engaging to me. Seeing new equipment that local producers only dream of having is right in my hands. Lately, In Studio Recording II we've been in the studio discussing Equalizers and Reverbs.  Last week we had one of our peers play the drums, guitar, and other equipment that he was used to playing. seeing him having full creative control of the sound he wants from his instruments was inspiring. I never got the chance to say to him how good he was. The next time you see a musician play their instruments look at their focus and the muscles in their arms or legs. I noticed that when a musician plays their instruments the muscles in their forearms move faster than normal.   The most important information that is given is when the instructor speaks. My Studio Record II instructor is David Nicols. He is by far one of the best music engineers that's in Phoenix, AZ. Every time someone has a question he answers it ...

Entry #5: Mayhem Bear

Mayhem Bear      The Allstate commercial " Mayhem Bear" uses rhetorical examples in numerous ways. Firstly the man comes out of the bushes saying he's a bear that came out of hibernation. Then he persist to break inside the car and shuffle a few things around. When he gets out of the car he breaks the mirror and says "Car insurance might not pay for all this, so get Allstate".        The rhetoric of this commercial comes in two forms. Firstly he compares himself to a bear breaking into a car. Secondly, an actual person will break into your car and take your personal belongings. Allstate accomplished its goal by catering to an audience that lives in a bear-stricken zone or an area that is close to wildlife. Allstate often gives way to situations that are exaggerated but this is key to why Allstate commercials are doing better than its opponents.  Mayhem Bear

Entry #4: Adventure Time's Existentialism

Image
Many people think of cartoons as funny/creative animation for kids, but some cartoons are deeper in philosophy than others. Adventure time is one of my favorites in philosophy and existentialism. Existentialism is a philosophical movement that focuses on the individual's experience and the meaning of life. The story starts with a human boy named Finn and his magic dog named Jake. Often dives into complex storylines about trauma, loss, and the repercussions of having power that's beyond your hands. I often rewatch some of the episodes where loss and philosophy were the initial premise. For example, Finn had gotten information on how to find his biological father. For him to get to his father, Finn needs to kill a divine entity where he would be taken to a top secure prison where his father resides.  Finn finds his father trapped in a crystal, and like any son he frees him. While trying to talk to his father, he shrugs him off and is quickly trying to find a way out of the prison...
